Bosworth Academy iPad Information

We have recently updated our charging policy for school issued iPad repairs. The increase is due to a rise in repair costs that we are facing. The cost of an initial repair will now be £30. However, if the damage to an iPad is deemed excessive or deliberate, then we may need to charge more based on the level of damage.

A first time repair charge is subsidised by the school if the breakage is usually considered as an accident. A second breakage will be charged at the higher rate of £40, unless it is deemed excessive or deliberate when it will be more. Further breakages will be charged at a cost per parts basis and cannot be subsidised by the school. There may also be behaviour sanctions for students and parents may be contacted.

These changes will take effect from Monday 29th April 2019

As a school, we believe that the iPad’s have helped to improve student achievement. Issuing an iPad to every Key Stage 3 and 4 student has provided one of the key tools for students to help enhance their learning experience, both inside and outside of school. The introduction of iPad’s has helped us to reduce costs in other areas and we now have less fixed PC’s around the school. Students now have immediate access to digital technology rather than having to access ICT suites with limited availability. We are always looking at new technologies to help improve learning, but it is highly likely that we will be continue to use iPad’s for the foreseeable future. Therefore we expect all students to treat the iPads with care and respect and we would appreciate parental support with this.
