Work Experience Summer 2023 Applications Open

Work Experience at Bosworth Academy is a voluntary activity open to Years 10, 11, 12 & 13. It is run by the Leicestershire Education Business Company (LEBC). Placements occur in the first 4 weeks of the summer holiday.

Students have been given an introduction to work experience in tutor time this week and Year 10 have had an assembly from LEBC.

All details and downloadable forms are available on the website in the work experience section. Students can collect paper forms from MLT or the Post-6 Office.

The application deadline is Tuesday 1st November 2022.

Work Experience Update

Work experience placements for the summer holidays are currently being finalised by LEBC. We expect paperwork to arrive in school shortly after half term.  Students will be given their paperwork and further instructions at this time.

Work Experience Summer 2022

In School Vaccinations

As part of the standard vaccination programme for children and young people, the Community Nursing Team will be in school tomorrow to deliver HPV vaccinations. If your child previously missed one of these when in Year 8 -or the Teenage Booster vaccination in Year 9- they will be given a slot tomorrow. Information on timings has been sent to staff and individual students. If you have not previously provided consent, you will be contacted on the day.

Work Experience Update

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding the continuation of restrictions until July 19th, there has been a knock on effect on employers. Unfortunately this means that there will be a number of students whom LEBC will be unable to place, especially in sectors such as healthcare and hospitality or where staff are furloughed or working from home until restrictions are lifted. They are still working hard to try to find placements for as many students as possible by the end of this week but, sadly, won’t be able to place everyone this summer.

We will be in touch shortly when we have more information from LEBC. We do appreciate how disappointing this must be.

Work Experience Summer 2021- Dates

It’s great to see that we’ve had a record number of applications for Summer 2021 Work Experience from Years 10-13, with students and parents looking ahead to the future despite the difficult times.

Whereas other schools only offer a set week, at Bosworth Academy we give our students the option of choosing any one of 4 weeks in the summer holiday, meaning that students are much more likely to receive their first choice placement.

LEBC will soon be emailing students who have applied to check their availabilty. The designated weeks are as follows:

w/c 12/7/21       w/c 19/7/21          w/c 26/7/21            w/c 2/8/21

Please can you discuss at home and let LEBC know which week or weeks the student would be available for a one week placement by returning the email. Please ensure these dates are accurate as it may be difficult to make changes later.

Work Experience Summer 2021 Update

Due to delays with student receiving logins from LEBC for the new online system, the deadline for applications has been extended to Friday 6th November. Applications will still be accepted after this point but won’t be addressed until the first (Nov 6th) batch of applications have been processed.

All the information to complete an application is available on the drop down Student & Parent menus under Work Experience.

Work Experience Summer 2021 Years 10-13

This week we are launching Work Experience applications for placements next summer. Letters will be emailed home and the application process will be online. Students have been asked to register their interest with their tutor this week so that they can be given access to the LEBC website.

Further information on Work Experience and how to apply will be made available on the Academy website this week in the Parents tab.

If your child is currently isolating and won’t be in school this week, but would like to register for Work Experience, please ask them to email [email protected]

Work Experience Summer 2020

Unfortunately, due to the current situation with COVID 19, the Academy has had to make the sad decision to cancel work experience this year. We have worked very closely with LEBC to assess the situation since the start of lockdown but, as student safety is our priority and many businesses are still closed, placements will not be taking place during the remainder of 2020.

If you have already paid for a work experience placement, we will be in touch by the end of the week via email to organise a full refund of the fee.
